Stretching your legs on Boxing Day after you've indulged a bit too much the day before is a time-honoured tradition in Wiltshire and beyond.

Boxing Day walks in Wiltshire

The Ridgeway National Trail

The Ridgeway National Trail is one of 13 national trails in England, extending over 85 miles of stunning landscape. 

Starting at the World Heritage site of Avebury, the Ridgeway is known as "Britain's oldest road" and stretches all the way to North West London.

The route is popular with walkers, dog owners and cyclists alike and you only need to read the TripAdvisor reviews to see why.

West Woods

Get some fresh air this Boxing day with a stroll through the West Woods. 

Located just south of Malborough, the West Woods are the perfect place to stretch your legs after a major indulgence on Christmas day. 

TripAdvisor recommends that you leave yourself 2-3 hours to enjoy this scenic stroll. 

The walking routes in the forest are not waymarked but you can have a look at the different trails via the Forestry England website.

Imber Range Perimeter Path 

The Imber Range Perimeter Path is a popular walking route in Wiltshire and it should be on your to-visit list if it's not already. 

Plenty of walkers have taken to the reviewing site to share their experience of the trail.

The reviews note the "beautiful views" with one visitor even rating the route as "one of the best walks in the country".

Mouldon Hill Country Park

Located within the parish of Haydon Wick, you'll find the Mouldon Hill Country Park near Thamesdown Drive. 

If you're looking for a winter stroll by the lakeside then you've found the right place. 

The route is popular with picnic eaters and walkers alike with many taking to TripAdvisor to share their visits.

One walker wrote: "First time walk in Mouldon Hill Country Park. Located to the West of Swindon, just of Thamesdown Drive - well signposted.
"Well signposted with lots of free parking.
"Well maintained paths and trails around the fishing lake. Lots of space to social distance.

"Large fields for dog exercising. Lots of benches in fields and around lake - perfect for a picnic watching the ducks and swans."

Spirithill Trail

Coming in fifth is the Spirithill trail in Calne. 

Calne is a friendly, historic town with an abundance of charms. 

There are plenty of walking and cycling routes around this picturesque town and you can plan your journey with trails to Bowood House, the former Canal wharf and Ratford. 

The Derry Hill loop, in particular, is popular amongst walkers and wanderers alike with a moderate 15.4 mile circular trail.
