Three people have been arrested after police were called to reports of a disorder in Ogbourne St George.
Officers were called shortly before 3pm this afternoon due to a group of people allegedly fighting, with the suggestion that knives may have been seen.
Due to the nature of the report, armed officers attended as a precaution and carried out a search of the area.
Three males, aged 16, 20 and 23, have been arrested on suspicion of affray and are in custody at Gablecross Police Station. At this stage no weapons have been located.
Inspector Louis McCoy said: “We know that people living in the village are likely to have seen the police activity this afternoon and we want to provide reassurance that we responded swiftly to make these arrests.
“We’ve not been made aware of anyone being seriously injured during this disorder, which we believe to have occurred between two groups of people known to each other.
“We have spoken to a number of witnesses already, but if you have any information which could assist our enquiries, then call 101, quoting log 165.”
