A MEMBER of Wiltshire Council’s cabinet has stepped back from his role due to work commitments.
Simon Jacobs, who is the cabinet member for public Health, public protection, licensing, staffing, communities and area boards, will stand down from the position on September 30.
Cllr Jacobs has been a member of the cabinet for two years, and is due to be replaced by Cllr Ashley O’Neill – who represents Calne Rural.
It was said that the Devizes councillor will step away from the cabinet to focus on his business.

Liberal Democrat councillor, Gordon King, said he will miss their regular chats with Cllr Jacobs and thanked him for his service and contribution to the cabinet.
Cllr Jacobs said: “It’s been a huge honour and privilege to stand and be part of what I see as the extraordinary organisation that Wiltshire Council is.
“I think we have an extraordinary bunch of people, and I would particularly like to thank my colleagues in cabinet but I would also like to thank the officers.
“I think Wiltshire has got an extremely bright future and just because we’ve been through the pandemic, I don’t see any difference to that.”
