The historic Grade 1 listed Devizes Castle in the centre of the market town is once again up for sale.
It has been listed with upmarket estate agents Knight Frank with a guide price of £2.65 million - substantially down on the £3.25m it was sold for in 2019.
The castle has overlooked the town of Devizes since the 11th century. It comes complete with 9-10 bedrooms, six reception rooms and six bathrooms, and 2.83 acres of gardens.
In the 12th century, King John spent time at the castle and it was he who built the extensive accommodation, remains of which can still be seen in the rear gardens.
Owned by the Crown for many years, the castle became the property of the Queens of England, including Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour and Anne of Cleves, among others.
