A WILTSHIRE MP will walk 87 miles in three days to raise money for a pre-school.

Chippenham MP, Michelle Donelan will walk along the Kennet & Avon canal to help safeguard the future of the 50-year-old Holt Pre-school.

Since late 2020, the MP has worked with the pre-school to help secure funding for a new building.

Wiltshire Council owns the building and has recently funded some repairs in the short term but according to the MP a new long term solution is needed.

“At the end of September, a keen member of my team and I will be walking 87 miles of the beautiful Kennet & Avon Canal in just three days in order to raise money for Holt Pre-School,” she said.

“I am really looking forward to the opportunity to do something really challenging and ask people to put their hands in their pockets to donate to a really good local cause that needs to be saved, please follow my progress and send plasters along the way.”

The nursery is not for profit and runs additional fundraising events and visits local community groups including the Luncheon Club – which provides advice and support to families in need.

Already £155,000 has been raised with an additional £45,000 still needed.
