MORE pregnant women and younger people are being admitted to Great Western Hospital with coronavirus.
GWH’s chief executive Kevin McNamara said they are seeing a “steep rise” in Covid hospital admissions while urgent and emergency care services are experiencing significant pressures.
As of today, GWH, which is the local hospital for patients from all over north Wiltshire, is treating 51 Covid patients. The number of patients has gradually increased since August 21 where 27 patients with coronavirus were being cared for.
In a short statement on twitter, Mr McNamara said: “Age profile is younger (relatively), and sadly we’ve seen more pregnant women being admitted too.
“It’s a stark reminder to get vaccinated and take care.”
