Devizes Town Council's audio and video systems may be upgraded, to the tune of £16,000.
It is hoped that ailing microphones can be replaced and that an opportunity to livestream meetings can be created.
An expert from Bosch came to inspect the current microphones used by the town council, and it was found to be a "surprise" they still worked at all. The microphones are connected via Wifi, which is why they so often malfunction.
It was acknowledged that while the current quote of £16,000 may not be set in stone, it would still cost a "substantial amount of money" to oversee.
It is hoped an improved system will mean that more people can access meetings through livestreaming.
"This is not about replacing bare bones of what we have, but looking to the future," said councillor Andy Geddes.
Quotes are currently being gathered before the Town Council decides to invest in the upgrade this year, or next year.
