A ROAD and footpath to be temporarily closed in Marlborough to allow for the installation of a pedestrian crossing.

George Lane and the footpath into Coopers Meadow will be closed from Monday, July 19 so that the low-awaited pedestrian crossing at George Lane can be installed.

It is anticipated that the works will continue until July 31.

The closure will affect part of the B3052 from its junction with Culvermead Close for 80m heading west.

Part of footpath 29 from where it meets George Lane will be closed for around 73m north.

It is suggested that pedestrians take the B3052, A4, Angel Yard and the unaffected portions of footpath 29 as alternatives routes.

The closure and diversion route will be indicated by traffic signs.

The application for the crossing was put in by St Mary's under the ‘Taking Action on School Journeys’ scheme and asked for a crossing with recommendations from Wiltshire Council including replacement of existing and provision of additional school warning signs on George Lane.
