Planning decisions made by Wiltshire Council recently

Broughton Gifford: Prior planning permission has been granted to change the use of an agricultural building at Red House Farm into five houses. This is a resubmission from an application (also approved) with the only material differences being the change in position of the larger and smaller homes.

According to the officer’s report: “The only change to this development proposed under this application from the previously approved one is the relocation of the larger and smaller units so that three smaller units would be where the two larger units were and likewise, the two larger units are now where the three smaller units are proposed.

“It is considered that this change would not have a significant alteration to the previous assessment and no concerns are raised regarding the switch.”

Chippenham: Lyus has won planning permission for a first floor extension to be added to 9 Ridings Mead which would transform the current bungalow into a two-storey dwelling.

West Overton: Mr and Mrs Cartlidge have been given the greenlight to demolish the existing pool house at Manor farm and in its place build a new pool house, one gym and the formation of a tennis court.

Devizes: Permission has been granted for a number of tree works at the Wiltshire Police HQ on London Road. Permission includes the removal of deadwood and to reduce a lime and pine tree to 2.5m, to cut back a maple tree due to “extensive decay”, to cut down a young rowan because of basel decay and poor reactive growth, to cut down a dead elm near the tennis courts, to reduce a row of beech trees down to 2m and remove deadwood, and to remove small failed rowan tree, prune back trees from the nearby lights by 1m, and to cut back a london plan to 3m to add sighting at the entrance and exit of the site.

Sherston: Mr and Mrs Ind of 4 Byways Court, Sandpits Lane successfully applied to demolish the existing single garage at the property to build a double garage and hobby room in its place.

Hilperton: Wiltshire Council planning officers have determined that prior approval is not required for a bid to build a single-storey rear extension at 47 Moyle Park.

Sutton Benger: Mr Peter Welch of Paddock Barn, High Street has won planning permission to install a new five bar farm gate with attached pedestrian access which will be installed across the open entrance to the property’s private driveway.

Bulkington: Mr Roger Hamlett of 74 High Street in Harlow has successfully won planning permission to build a new house and pool house on land with extant planning permission – 3 High Street in Bulkington. The development is considered to be infill for the area, and the plans were not considered to be harmful to the surroundings or make drastic changes to the character or appearance of the small village.

Wiltshire Council planning officers said: “The design has been revised during the course of the application so that it better relates to the existing character and form of the village and it is considered that the mass, bulk, ridge, eaves height and elevational treatment would not be at odds with neighbouring properties.

“The windows openings are a different style and the proposed attached garage with master bedroom is a prominent feature of the design.”

Devizes: Planning permission has been granted to Sue Johns of 11a Bridewell Street to remove an internal cupboard at the property to create space for a dining area.

Fittleton: Plans for a part single-storey, part two-storey, new four bedroom dwelling with access at The Old School, Fittleton Village Copperfield north to Avon Valley back road have been withdrawn by the applicant.

Salisbury: Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital has been given the green light to build a single-storey extension to the side of the existing building and minor alterations and additional windows to the existing building. The proposal would facilitate a new reception, assessment areas and accommodation for wildlife.

Calne: Mr Jobling of 8 Edreds Court, Horsebrook has been granted planning permission to install new French doors at his property.

Coate: Mr Cackette has won permission to build a single-storey conservatory to rear elevation at Hillside Cottage, Coate Lane.
