The following planning decisions have been made by Wiltshire Council, recently:

Southwick: Mr A Burden has been told he will not need prior approval to build a new agricultural building to store hay, straw and farm machinery at Moorfield Farm, Hoopers Pool.

Chippenham: Idowu Sholanke of Noble D Ltd, 39 Liskeard Way, Freshbrook in Swindon has had prior approval for a change of use bid knocked back. Mr Sholanke had applied to Wiltshire Council for a change of use of offices at 1 Langley Road into a home.

In rejecting the bid, Wiltshire Council’s planning officers wrote: “The information submitted in support of the application indicates that noise from the adjacent commercial premises would have a significant adverse impact upon future occupiers of the development.

“It is considered that citing residential accommodation in an area where windows would have to remain shut in order to reduce internal noise to a level that complies with World Health Organisation standards.”

Westbury: Mr B Perkins of 64A Clay Close in Dilton Marsh has been refused planning permission for an outline bid for the demolition and redevelopment of numbers eight, 10 and 12 Oldfield Road into nine flats.

In their report officers said: “The proposed layout would, by reason of narrow access, siting relative to the prevailing building line and neighbouring properties, result in a cramped form of development that would detract from the character and appearance of the area, have an adverse impact on highway safety and an unacceptable adverse impact on the residential amenity of neighbouring occupiers through loss of outlook, overbearing appearance and loss of privacy.”

North Bradley: Daneil Brown of 16 Woodmarsh has won planning permission to build a detached garage at his property.

Lower Stanton St Quintin: Motor Fuel Limited has won a bid to revert four approved EV charging bays to four customer parking bays and six customer parking bays to change to six EV charging bays with a canopy cover and other associated equipment.

Chippenham: Paul and Diana McMahon of 4 Sandes Close have successfully bid to build a first-floor side extension over the existing attached double garage at the property.

Bradford on Avon: Wiltshire Council has refused planning permission to Mr Simpson for a proposed extension to Beaglers Green, 3C Kingsfield Grange Road. Officer’s said that because of the “poor design” of the extension, as well as its mass and bulk that it would not be in-keeping with the existing property. “It would also lead to increased levels of overlooking to the garden and amenity ground associated with the neighbouring properties: Cedar Cottage and Woodcote; and the proposal would result in less than substantial harm to the setting of the nearby listed building – Conigre House.”

Trowbridge: Mr Manning has been awarded planning permission to build a single-storey front extension to his home at 91 Ashton Street.

Bradford on Avon: Mary and Grant O’Malley and Pearson have been granted planning permission to build front and side extensions to their home at 7 Elms Cross Drive.

Trowbridge: Nathan Dawes of Griffon House, Seagry Heath in Great Somerford has been granted planning permission for the proposed conversion of the former Crown Hotel on Timbrell Street. It was proposed that the former hotel would become a 10 bedroom HMO property and three studio flats with the addition of secondary glazing to sash windows.

Marlborough: Stuart Jones of 22 Cadley has had a listed building consent bid rejected by Wiltshire Council. Mr Jones had applied to build a two and single-storey side extension, as well as a “rearward extension”. However, planning officer’s said: “The extensions would be disproportionate to and would dominate the form of the existing cottage, and the single storey side extension, by reason of its elongated form, low-pitched hipped roof and extensive glazing does not respect the fine quality of details and form of the Victorian Gothic and the architectural form, asymmetry, steep pitched roofs and overall character of the pair of cottages.”

Pewsey: Anthony Cornish of Haresfield, Marlborough Road has been granted planning permission second access to main road so that the existing driveway will be crescent shaped with two accesses.
