Chippenham’s first designated zero-waste store has been launched at Emery Gate Shopping Centre.

Squeeky, champions of zero-waste, naturally sourced, organic and plant-based homeware products, this week unveiled a new 1,500 sq ft store which is set to educate and change the shopping habits of the people of Chippenham.

Established in 2016 by Claire Nicholas, Squeeky started as an online business in an effort to reduce plastic pollution and create chemical-free cleaning products before transitioning from clicks to bricks, opening a short-term pop-up modest kiosk back in November.

The response saw shoppers pour through their doors at Emery Gate Shopping Centre armed with Eco Spirit and refillable containers.

The overwhelming response from the public, together with the ambition from both its owners and landlords, Eagle One, came to fruition this week with the official launch of its new zero-waste store in the heart of Chippenham.

The now permanent store will also provide a community hub in the centre.

Claire said: “This is very a proud week for us, and we are delighted to grow Squeeky further with the trust of Eagle One along with our loyal customers.

"We hope our new venture benefits other businesses in Wiltshire as we go to great lengths to source as many products locally.”

Phil Maclean, marketing director for Emery Gate Shopping Centre, on behalf of its landlords Eagle One, added: “It’s personally very satisfying seeing an independent business thriving, particularly an independent business with such a strong ethos.

"We are proud to welcome Squeeky into an enhanced space, allowing our visitors to shop plastic-free, zero-waste, helping our planet now and for future generations.”
