Two classes at a Calne primary school are self-isolating after a “number” of positive cases of Covid were recorded at the school.

At Priestley Primary School in Calne, the Eider and Teal classes have both been asked to self-isolate – this follows the return of Years 5 and 6 who were previously self-isolating.

According to the school, the Teal class is set to return on June 28 and Eider will come back on Monday, July 5.

In a letter to parents, headteacher Mr Marsh-Ballard said: “As promised in the earlier text I am writing formally to inform you that we have been informed of a positive return from Lateral Flow Test taken by a pupil within your child’s bubble at Priestley Primary School.

“I have this morning been in contact with the DfE, PHE and the LA to ensure that we have done everything necessary under the circumstances.

“In short, your child will need to self-isolate for 10 days from the last possible face to face contact with the possibly affected children.

“Should your child start to show symptoms I would urge that you ensure your child takes a test and inform the school of any positive returns.”
