At the start of yet another unpredictable year due to covid, Noah’s Ark Nursery School in Devizes made it their aim to expand their outdoor area to improve the learning of all children in their care.
During the February half term holidays, school staff set families a little challenge to keep them busy.
Children and their parents were encouraged to participate in a sponsored walk within their family bubble, in line with the current Government guidelines, and any funds raised were to be put towards some new gardening tools and equipment.
The children and families covered lots of miles during the break, and have raised more than £1000, and that number is still climbing as the weeks go on.
The money raised has helped the nursery to buy a new greenhouse, some water butts and various gardening tools and resources.
This week the children got their gardening gloves on and have been busy planting sweetcorn, beans, courgettes and sunflowers seeds.
Activities such as planting seeds and growing plants are a great way to address all seven areas of learning, whilst helping children to explore the world around them.
