A Wiltshire woman who works for the Environment Agency has been recognised for her work in handling environmental resilience incidents and her voluntary role with a Bristol women’s charity.

Anita Seaton,53, receives an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to the environment and vulnerable communities.

She works for the Environment Agency in its incident management and resilience team and is also a volunteer with One25, a Bristol women’s charity which reaches out to some of the city’s most marginalised women.

Anita said: ““I was completely stunned and enormously humbled by the award. A massive thank you to all those involved in the nomination.

“I am very lucky to work with people across the Environment Agency who are passionate about protecting communities and the lives of others, as well as looking out for and supporting each other through our fantastic staff networks.

“I have received incredible support and encouragement from some truly amazing and inspiring colleagues throughout my time working here.

“I volunteer with a charity in Bristol supporting vulnerable women who are experiencing multiple disadvantages and trauma and those building new lives away from poverty, violence and addiction.

“The resilience of these women inspires me daily to encourage others to step out of their comfort zone and set and reach goals they never imagined.

“Therefore for me to receive this award is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of all my colleagues, those in incident response, those whose jobs are dedicated to protecting our environment to prevent incidents from happening, and those who journey alongside, support and encourage others.”
