A Devizes man has begun a cycling adventure, which is doubling as a fundraiser, to John O'Groats.

Nick Seager, 75, is taking on LEJOG on behalf of Devizes Lions.

All money raised will go towards the group's work in the community.

He set off in the sun from his home in London Road yesterday (June 2) surrounded by other Lions and his proud wife.

Nick will become one of the oldest people to complete the ride without a support team and expects to be back by the end of the month.

His route will take him through sights such as the Two Tunnels in Bath, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct on the Llangollen canal and through scenic routes such as in the Lake District and Aviemore.

Nick has been inspired by his son, Jerry, and his girlfriend who cycled the globe - and he posed for a photo in the same spot as they did in 2018.

Jerry King, this year’s President of the Devizes Lions, added: “Our members and friends are in awe of the challenge that Nick has set himself. The money that he raises will be used where it can do the most good.

"It is great that the Devizes Lions will getting back out in the public eye during June, when we also hold our major children's sports event and a new classic car show on The Green.”
