POLICE say they have identified the juvenile who set fire to a table and bench near the newly-opened splashpad at King George V playing field in Melksham.

The table and bench were completely destroyed and a nearby waste bin and part of the cricket pavilion was damaged during the blaze.

Anne O’Gorman: I don’t care how young he is , there is no excuse for this and he needs to be named and shamed... although I doubt that he has any shame... his family must be so proud... Not

Priscilla Nield: Let’s hope so and make him or rather them pay to get it up and running again for the children to enjoy

New data has shown that, with less than a month to go until the June 30 Stamp Duty deadline, that those attempting to complete on a property purchase in Wiltshire are some of the least likely in the UK to complete on time; potentially costing thousands of pounds in tax.

Sandra Mitchell: Yes this is very true whereas BANES can issue their search results within days. Something needs doing very quickly so that buyers can take advantage of stamp duty holiday. For searches lodged last week Wiltshire Council are estimating them being processed by end of July!

Charlie Major: Conveyancing in Wiltshire is dire. Bristol have a 48-hour SLA, whereas Wiltshire won’t/can’t even tell you what theirs is. If they complete the searches in under 8 weeks, you’ve been exceptionally fortunate and should possibly consider backing a rank outsider at the races or buying numerous lottery tickets.

A GREAT-GREAT grandmother has complained to Wiltshire Council and Selwood Housing Association about her rented home being overlooked by two flats built behind a nearby mosque.

Omar Shakour, of Trowbridge Islamic Trust, gained planning permission from Wiltshire Council in 2015 for additional meeting rooms at Trowbridge Mosque in Longfield Road with storage and two flats above.

Now great-great grandmother Audrey Griffiths, 84, claims the flats overlook her garden and home in Longfield Road, meaning she is suffering a loss of privacy and light.

Alan Rea: Some councillor got a nice brown envelope for that planning permission

John Khan: She doesn’t even own her own home but she’s still complaining

Doris Falzon: Do away with rude comments. Everyone deserves his privacy whether be a tenant home owner or anything else

Jo Clifford: Is this a joke? She lives on longfield ffs not the French Riviera. It’s a council estate and she’s not entitled to light or privacy.

Ian Scrooge Middleton: In close proximity to others homes like this windows should not over look others, in todays market there are lots of options open to the builders for light.

A Chippenham man smeared poo on a CCTV camera and assaulted officers during his arrest, a court has heard.

Craig Smith, 28, of Wood Lane, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court on May 28 and pleaded guilty to a public order offence, two counts of criminal damage, and four counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

David Ross: That’s what you call a ‘dirty protest’

Stuart Elliott: The question everyone wants to know is was it their own. Or did the custody Sgt fail to find it when they were booked in

Elaine Hurkett Was McCafferty: Won’t be the first and won’t be the last, have you not seen Prison Break.

Nicky Mutter: Good ol dirty protests
