Master thatcher and bellringer Richard 'Bones' Metters has decided to shave off his locks to raise money for a bell ringing charity.

‘Bones’ - his nickname from wearing a skull and crossbones T shirt - is also tower captain of bellringers at St George's Church in Preshute.

He learned the ropes in Marlborough having learnt to ring at St Mary's in the town over 30 years ago.

He has been involved in several bell restoration projects over the years, many of these supported by vital funding, and so he wants to give something back to the charity.

Anne Wardell, Administrator of the Llewellyn Edwards Bell Restoration Fund said: “The LEBRF is very grateful to Richard for coming up with this fund-raising idea – I’ll be filming him and cheering him on, but rather him than me though!”

Bones' head-shave will be streamed via Facebook at 11:30am on Sunday June 20, and people can sponsor him via JustGiving www.justgiving.com/Richard-Bones-Metters-Charity-Head-Shave
