Linda Dubber, a 61-year-old administrator from Chippenham, battled it out on The Chase game show alongside teammate Terry, in the hope of winning a share of £7,000.

The ITV show, which aired at 5pm on Thursday, May 20, saw the pair answer 14 questions correctly in two minutes in the final chase.

But Jenny Ryan, known as 'The Vixen,' was able to match this with just 19 seconds remaining.

Linda initially went to the table with £4,000, which she had accumulated by answering four questions correctly in one minute.

She then decided to take the lower offer of £1,000 given by The Vixen in order to secure her place in the final chase.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

Linda said: “I was so relieved to get through to the final chase as that was my aim – anything else would have felt like I had let myself down.

“The questions for the others were all pretty hard so I made the decision to take the low offer to give me the best chance of getting back.”

Linda is no newbie to game shows as in 2018 she was a contestant on BBC One’s Chase the Case.

Having been successful in Thursday’s episode, she wanted to donate part of her winnings to Chippenham Hospital Radio where she has worked voluntarily for the past 18 months.

Linda added: “I had a wonderful day and met some great people including Bradley and the studio staff.

“It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (unless I get on to Who Wants to be a Millionaire!) and I gave it my best shot.”

Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan commented on Linda’s performance after she secured a seat to play in the final chase.

She said: “Linda is one of those remarkable players who got through and didn’t think that she knew any of the answers!

“It’s just one of those miraculous runs to the final.

“Well played Linda.”
