The tragic loss of their baby son has prompted two young Calne parents to raise money for those who tried to save him.

Little Franklin Okun was only three months old when he stopped breathing at his grand parents.  His parents were in the car on their way home when they got the dreadful call in May last year.

Frantic efforts on the part of his parents, ambulance crews and the air ambulance got a heartbeat back.

He was then transferred to the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, but he died two days later.

Now dad Chris has vowed to do an annual fundraiser to help those who tried to help his son.

He has already raised nearly £4k

"This really is every parents worst nightmare and that is why we do our annual fundraising events as without the charities involved we wouldn’t have had the chance to say goodbye to our precious boy, and for that we are forever grateful," said mum Katelyn.

On the anniversary of their son's death, Chris will cycle the 42 miles from the Calne home he shares with his wife Katelyn and new baby daughter to the Bristol hospital stopping at the air ambulance’s base in Semington on the way.

He will hand over cheques with the money raised to the charities.

"We hope that the two very special nurses who looked after Franklin will meet us there to have some photos as well," added Katelyn.

Chris will also do four hours of fitness being held at St Mary’s Sports Centre in Calne, between 10-2, with the help of Steve from team Applegate martial arts, Jess Iles from Jess Iles sports therapy and professional boxer Joseph Hughes from Paddy Johns Gym in Bristol.

"We are also selling brownies from a local small business Em&J’s bakery, all of the proceeds go into our PayPal fund," said Katelyn.

"Apart from that we sell T-shirts and hoodies and profits from all of this goes into the fund too!"
