Malmesbury's high-profile businessman Sir James Dyson makes it in as number four on the Sunday Times Rich List.

His net worth is £16.3bn which is up £100m on 2020.

He has now moved his residency back to the UK from Singapore. He lives primarily in the UK according to filings for his companies, which include his family office.

The Malmesbury campus was established in 1993. It is the base for over 4,500 Dyson people and also home to the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Last year, the company announced it was axing 450 jobs at the site.

The Brexit-backing inventor has returned to Britain two years after moving to Singapore, although his company’s global headquarters remain in the city state.

Last year Dyson sold his penthouse there for £33 million, about £4 million less than he paid in 2019. Dyson, 74, is to throw £2.75 billion at robotics, artificial intelligence and a range of other new technologies over five years as he moves into new areas and doubles the company’s product range.

Sir James own a lot of land. In 2014 the Daily Mail reported that Dyson “now owns more land in England than the Queen”.

Around 25,000 acres - against the 20,000 acres owned personally by her Majesty at Sandringham. By July 2017, Farmers Weekly was reporting that Dyson’s empire had grown to 13,355 hectares, or 33,000 acres.

His land owning company is called Beeswax Farming said: "We now have 35,000 acres of farmland and we produce 35,000 tonnes of wheat, 9000 tonnes of spring barley, 15,000 tonnes potatoes, 9000 tonnes of vining peas, and 100,000 tonnes of energy crops."

Sir Leonard Blavatnik - the sports medai tycoon was at number 1 on the list with £23bn net worth,with David and Simon Reuben at number 2 with a £21.465bn net worth from property and internet and at number three, where Sir James was last year,  the Hinduja's with £17bn.
