A WOMAN suffered multiple injuries after she was assaulted and had her phone stolen.

The victim was walking on Linden Avenue to the junction of Pinehurst Road when she was approached by a dark blue car at around 4am yesterday.

Police said a man got out of the car and attacked her, taking her phone before attempting to drive the car at her.

She sustained multiple injuries and was taken to Great Western Hospital to be treated.

The suspect, in his 20s, who is known to the victim, was arrested later the same day on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and theft. He has been released pending further enquiries.
