More people in Wiltshire turned out to vote in the local elections than in 2017, it has been revealed.
This local election saw a voter turn out of 40.53 per cent which is a slight increase on the pre-pandemic election (2017) where the same figure was 39.6 per cent.
The final electorate number in the Wiltshire Council area was 381,454, with 70,733 registered postal voters.

Terence Herbert, Wiltshire Council chief executive and returning officer said: “This election has been a huge undertaking for all our staff, who have had to manage the whole process in a safe and Covid-secure way, I’d like to thank them for all their hard work.”
The combined turn out for Swindon and Wiltshire this year was 212,178 out of 542,303 (39.1 per cent).
In 2016 there was a 24.7 per cent turn out with 126,195 ballots verified.
