There has been an electoral cull at the top of Melksham Town Council.

It's leader, Vanessa Fiorelli has lost her seat, as has deputy mayor Geoff Mitcham.

Melksham Town is sub-divided into four Wards:North Ward, Central Ward
and South Ward and Forest.

Melksham East now has two Tories and two Together For Melksham - A Fresh Start councillors.  Melksham North also has one of each. And Melksham South has one Tory, one independent and two Together for Melkshams.

Together for Melksham, led by John Hubbard who was also elected to Wiltshire Council, is now the majority party with another three in Forest.

Graham Ellis, Melksham South Independent said:

"Congratulations to Jon Hubbard on his election to Wiltshire Unitary Council to represent the south division of Melksham, and to Jon, Colin Goodhind, and Jacqui Crundell to serve for the ward on Melksham Town Council, alongside myself. There were more good candidates than vacancies in both elections, and my commiserations to the other candidates who all fought excellent campaigns."

"A massive "THANK YOU" to all of those who voted for me in my stand for Melksham Town Council. And an especial thank you to the folks who helped me put my literature though every welcoming letter box, and into friend's social media feeds. Between us, we generated a great deal of useful discussion, which we translated into votes.

"Although we all put our positions and difference strongly through an election campaign, most of the stuff our Town Council do is agreed by everyone. and I look forward to working with my colleagues of all colours on the council if they will work with me. There are a few key things I would strongly oppose and protest, but most things should be done in partnership for common or mutually compatible objectives."
