Tributes have been paid to Guy Tadman, an "experienced, professional and skilled" former watch manager in Wiltshire.

Flags at fire stations and workplaces across Dorset and Wiltshire will fly at half-mast in his honour.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service’s chief fire officer Ben Ansell said: “Today, we have received the sad news that retired Watch Manager Guy Tadman, from Trowbridge fire station, has lost his fight against cancer.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

"Guy was initially diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in November 2019 and received a stem cell transplant last April; however, the cancer returned in January this year.

“Guy was a firefighter for 22 years and served at Trowbridge for his whole career, only retiring in January due to his illness.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

"He was an experienced, professional and skilled firefighter who was highly regarded by his colleagues, and his profile was both national and international through the Trowbridge fire station Twitter account, which he ran from 2013 until his retirement."

Guy will be incredibly missed by firefighters across the region.

A team from the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled the Ride 4 Guy challenge last September to raise funds for DKMS, an international non-profit bone marrow donor centre based in Germany.

Guy had received a bone marrow stem cell donation from his younger son Josh in April - and his former colleagues wanted to do their bit to raise as much money as they could.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

As a result, dozens of firefighters also registered to become donors with the charity DKMS.

Ben added: “His passing is a huge loss to us all and my thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.

"Flags at our fire stations and workplaces across Dorset and Wiltshire are flying at half-mast in Guy’s honour.”
