A NEW pet shop is delighting animal lovers and furry friends alike in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Daniel Lewis and Luke Bartley, who run grooming and care service Walks With Paws, have opened the doors at Ruby and Dexter’s in the High Street.

“One of our friends dressed up as a dog called Barney, which worked a treat," said Daniel, 25, of Fairfield. "Everyone was so lovely, they loved it and so did the children.

“The first day was fantastic, it couldn’t have gone better, we were thrilled. The support we have received, whether it’s been on Facebook or in person, has been amazing.

“We’ve been planning to open this for over a year now, I’m lost for words that it’s finally happened and the community has come together to support us.”

Daniel and Luke named their shop after their chihuahuas. It offers a range of organic products for dogs, cats, small animals, birds, and other wildlife.

“Between Luke and I, We have over 14 years of experience behind us in the pet industry," Daniel said. "This is valuable knowledge and experience which will allow us to offer the best service for both humans and animals alike.

“We know from first-hand experience that it’s difficult to find natural and good quality pet products, without going to multiple stores, and with the options being very limited in Royal Wootton Bassett we decided to launch a new separate company.

“We’ve always had a keen interest in animals from an early age, not just for the companionship and cuddles they provide, but also other important factors like their, health, nutrition and overall wellbeing.”

The grooming services at Walks With Paws were stopped but will continue at Ruby and Dexter’s.

The couple are excited and optimistic about the future.

Daniel added: “Since the start of the pandemic, it’s been quite tough on all businesses and industries, but we’re very lucky to work in the pet industry where owners of their pets are very much still providing revenue for the business.

“We’ve had our fair share of hardships through the lockdowns, but we strongly feel and believe there is a need for our type of business in our hometown that would hugely benefit the residents and most importantly their pets.”
