A 51-day cycle challenge to raise funds for West Bank children in Palestine has ended in triumph for a Bradford on Avon pensioner.

Judith Hammond, 77, has completed a 1,214-mile bike ride - cycling 22 miles every day for 51 days.

She has raised more than £6,400 to buy computers and school IT equipment for the children of Tubas in the Jordan Valley.

Friends and supporters greeted Judith as she finished her marathon cycle at 4pm on Sunday, April 11 at the town's Tithe Barn.

Judith is a member of Bradford on Avon’s Friends of Palestine group which decided to support the school in Tubas after learning the children had no IT equipment to use during Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns.

Mrs Hammond, of Middle Rank, said: "My cycle buddies have been vital with helping to maintain morale.""Some of the rides have been in really blustery winds and driving rain and my feet would often feel like lumps of ice on arriving back home.

"But many days were sunny when I revelled in the beautiful countryside vistas and glorious blossoms as spring unfurled."To donate, go to
