The formal transfer of Cricklade Leisure Centre and other assets from Wiltshire Council to Cricklade Town Council has been completed.
Cricklade Leisure Centre and other assets are now under the ownership of the town council.
The Stones Lane asset transfer between Cricklade Town Council and Wiltshire Council – which includes the leisure centre, recreation ground, Waylands car park and Ockwells has been completed.
Alongside the leisure centre, the town council will also receive funding for the upkeep of the recently refurbished facility.
Town clerk, Duncan May said the leisure centre will be run by D&DCA on a not-for-profit basis.
Sam Fox, corporate director for place at the local authority said: “The transfer makes really good sense for both authorities and will see a number of services and facilities locally run and thrive as result, which will ultimately benefit the Cricklade communities and the local area.”

Mr May added: “We are delighted to now have these assets under local ownership and control although, of course, they do come with responsibilities.”
