Four new Covid-19 test collection sites have opened across Wiltshire – with more to follow soon.

Today (April 14), Wiltshire Council will open four more coronavirus test collection locations at Springfield Community Campus in Corsham, Calne Leisure Centre, the Veil Community Campus in Pewsey and the Nadder Centre in Tisbury.

These sites will join the already established locations at the Leisure Centre in Devizes, Monkton Park in Chippenham and Bourne Hill in Salisbury.

These will open during the same opening hours as the leisure centres.

A spokesman for the council said: “We have rolled out the government's rapid Covid-19 community testing initiative to help drive down transmission rates.

With its targeted approach, community testing aims to reduce the prevalence of the virus.

“Around one in three people who have coronavirus do not display any symptoms so it's important that eligible people get tested if they can.

The Leisure Centre of Devizes also continues to be an in-person community testing site – for the asymptomatic – due to the footfall at the centre.

Due to low levels of stock at Monkton Park in Chippenham, the site will be closed from Wednesday, April 14 until next week.

Towards the end of the month, the local authority hopes to open more of these sites to bring the total to 10.

More details on these sites to follow.
