A NEW app is giving punters the chance to track down pubs with beer gardens in Salisbury after they reopened on Monday.

The app, called Boozr, features 700,000 venues worldwide and is aimed at people who can’t wait to 'do their socialising in real life'.

This comes as the hospitality industry reopened for the first time in months, but will only be serving food or drink outdoors.

How does the app work?

The latest release of Boozr includes a new Quick Filter so drinkers can find pubs with outdoor seating right from their home screen.

When users open the app, a map shows nearby pubs and bars that are open in whatever direction you point your phone.

Boozers who are looking for a night to remember in Salisbury will be happy to hear they can search for venues that offer happy hour, karaoke and live music.

The app also lets people add their most loved pubs to their 'Favourites' list, where drinkers can be notified when one of their friends 'checks in' or says they're planning to visit.

People can also find new friends on the app by seeing who else has checked into the watering hole that night.

However, not every pub in the city will be listed on Boozr's app, given it's fairly new for the area.

But venues can be added using the 'Find Boozrs tab', according to Boozr's website.

During lockdown, some pubs may have permanently closed, so users are advised to report it on the app.

To do that, from the venue's listing, click the cog icon in the top right and select 'Report This Listing'.

And of course we recently rounded up 12 new and improved local beer gardens in time for unlocking.

Is the app free?

Yes, Boozr is free and there are in-app purchases that can be made.

It was released on November 12, 2020, and can be downloaded on smartphones and iPhones.

What are the rules when you go to the pub?

The 'rule of six' will still be in force, meaning customers can meet up in groups of six - or two households, whichever is greater.

Punters will also have to order from their table and stay seated - enabling social distancing.

However, new test and trace rules mean everyone over 16-years-old must sign in before going into pubs, cafés or restaurants, unlike last year when just one member of a group needed to do this.

If all goes to plan, step three of Boris Johnson's roadmap out of lockdown should see people allowed indoors again from May 17.
