Streets are busy in Marlborough today as shoppers return to the High Street.

A steady stream of cars were lining up across the town centre with many looking to find parking spots.

Kim Dudley, who owns the Kim Vine High Street boutique, said: "It is exciting to see so many cars out here. I think we all need a bit of normality back and we can't wait to see people."

Louise Thatcher and Becky Davies have opened their frame and picture shop for the first time since January 5.

They said: "We are so excited to see our customers. We have lots of bookings already, and we have decorated the front of the shop too."

Busy streets were full of happy shoppers excited at the prospect of supporting their local traders.

Clare and Molly Fawcus were enjoying a bacon sandwich ahead of some morning shopping.

Clare said: "We are looking forward to it. I've been waiting to get to the photo shop for a wedding present for nearly a year now!"

Rory O'Neil, from Marlborough High Street estate agents Carter Jonas, said: "We are open today, but to be honest we have been so busy throughout lockdown we don't expect too much of a difference.

He added that he has seen a sharp increase in property interest in the area from people moving from urban to rural areas.

There were queues around the block for Downtown Barbers from when it opened at 9am.

Denise Sawyer and Ben Phillips were kept very busy with clients.
