Fire crews from Royal Wootton Bassett were called into action after a chimney fire in Preston, near to Chippenham, last night.
The alarm had been raised after a fire broke out around 8pm.
The fire service said: "A crew from Royal Wootton Bassett was mobilised to a domestic property following a report of a chimney fire at the address.
"The attending crew arrived quickly on scene and confirmed that the fire was extinguished prior to their arrival by the occupiers.
"Crews checked the building for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera."
