FIRE crews in west and north Wiltshire were kept busy yesterday evening with several incidents taking place after 6pm.

Crews from Corsham and Chippenham attended a fire in the kitchen at a property in Lypiatt Mead Corsham just after 6.35pm.

The fire was extinguished and checks were made of the roof void and the adjoining property to ensure the fire had not spread.

At 8:19pm, crews from Calne and Chippenham were called to a property in New Road, Studley, after reports of smoke issuing from the roof of the building.

Crews confirmed that a workshop was also well alight. Unfortunately, three private vehicles were damaged.

The fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one 45m covering jet. A fire investigation officer was also requested.

In the third incident just after midnight, a crew from Trowbridge was mobilised to a chimney fire in Semington Road, Melksham.

Following investigations, the fire was extinguished using a stirrup pump and rods and the roof void was also checked.
