Children at Corsham Regis Primary Academy were welcomed back into school after the long lockdown break with a barrage of balloons which greeted them as they entered the school grounds. The colourful balloons, accompanied by welcome back messages, adorned the school gates last week.

Old friends were reacquainted, classmates were brought together again to learn and teachers got back to the job of teaching to classes of real children, rather than to a screen.

The first week back corresponded with British Science week, and the children were treated to a feast of science-themed lessons and experiments. Each class was given a different investigation linked to plants and growing – ready to replenish the school vegetable patch which has had a bit of spruce up during Lockdown. Tomato plants, spinach, mange-tout, radishes and pumpkins are just some of the vegetables which the children planted, and which they will observe growing before they are brought into the school’s outdoor growing space.

Other experiments and investigations were enjoyed, bringing the awe and wonder of science to life.

The school's Mrs Bagnall said: "Welcome back children. You have been missed and we are so glad to have you back."
