MULTI-award winning trombonist, educator and band leader, Dennis Rollins MBE and a top team of NYJO Ambassadors, are taking part in a virtual one-day course for the Wiltshire Music Centre this morning.
The course begins online at 10am and is open to all young jazz musicians aged 11-18 at Grade 4 (or equivalent) standard and above.
Morning sessions 10am – 12pm: Join Mike Daniels, Rod Oughton and guest NYJO Ambassadors, Emma Rawicz-Sczerbo (sax) and Gabby Carberry (bass) in sectional breakout sessions, to learn new tunes, develop your technique and ensemble skills.
Afternoon session 1pm – 3pm: Dennis Rollins is one of the UK’s finest jazz musicians and has toured the world with the best, including Courtney Pine and Maceo Parker.
In this session, Dennis will support you to develop your jazz solos, articulation and melodic expression. Focus points will include the art of conversation and working on your personal sense of time.
