THE Mad March Hare event is marking its 14th year as it goes virtual to raise money for Breast Cancer Now.

Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust is organising the event which runs throughout March.

Those taking part are being asked to run or walk 5k or 10k to raise money for the charity.

Days Out For Kids Swindon is supporting the event as pictures of those taking part can be shared to its Facebook page for a chance to win a prize which has been donated by Mamas Sweet Treats.

And Purple Bricks Swindon has sponsored the Mad March Hare.

Event member Esther Newman said: "Support like this from local companies and business has kept the Mad March Hare going for the past 14 years and is how we have managed to raise over £123,000 over those years. We would like to thank each and every one of our many sponsors for coming back to support us every year. Local donations mean we can ensure 100 per cent of the fees still go direct to Breast Cancer Now.

"The event usually sees around 500 entrants, welcoming people of all ages and abilities to get out and enjoy taking exercise. This past year has been difficult for many charities and events like ours have been cancelled. We hope that by offering the virtual event and linking with Days out For Kids we can encourage even more to take part."
