As many in the surrounding area will have heard this week, military training exercises have returned to the Salisbury Plain.

The 7 'Parachute' Regiment Royal Horse Artillery and the Royal School of Artillery will both be deployed firing the L118 Light Gun which is the UK's 105mm towed Howitzer capable of firing High Explosive, Illuminating and Smoke shell in excess of 17 Kms.

19 Regiment Royal Artillery 'The Scottish Gunners' will be deployed with the AS90 which is the UK's 155mm self propelled Howitzer capable of firing the same types of ammunition in excess of 24km.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

Noise levels will increase for those in the area although the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, that manage the Salisbury Plain training area, promise it will not exceed the 'good neighbour' agreed level.

People out walking have been reminded not to enter a red flagged area.

Summer firing times are also in place from this week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 08.30am to 5pm and Tuesday, Thursday on Saturday 8.30am to 11.30pm.
