THE following planning applications have been decided by Wiltshire Council.

Malmesbury: Mark Peart has lost a planning bid to build garages on land at Cherry Tree Cottage in Cloatley End.

Mr Peart, who lives at Cherry Cottage, planned to replace three dilapidated garages at the property and change the use of the field to allow for garages to be built.

But council officers deemed the plans to be out of keeping with the cottage and the area as a whole.

Marlborough: Eric Rose has got permission for four trees to be chopped back to get rid of overhanging branches and squirrel damage at land to west of 57A George Lane.

One of the trees is a horse chestnut which has overhanging branches, and will be cut back and another sycamore tree is showing signs of being attacked by squirrels. Two more horse chestnut trees will also be pruned back.

Marlborough: Mr and Mrs Bull have lost a planning bid for permission in principle to build a home Poulton Farm, Poulton Hill.

The town council objected to the plans, saying that the application met neither the criteria of the Wiltshire Local Plan or the Marlborough Neighbourhood Plan.

Commenting on the decision letter, the planning officers said: “Due to the distance to local services, facilities and amenities, occupants of a dwelling on the plot would likely be heavily reliant on the use of private motor transport for the majority of day to day activities, contrary to the principles of sustainable development and the aims of reducing the need to travel.”

Minety: Plans for a replacement house by Mr and Mrs Richardson have been knocked back by the planning authority.

The couple had planned to build a more substantial home on land at Meadow View, The Common. The proposed house have had four bedrooms and three bathrooms – including ensuites.

But because of its location in the open countryside plans for the new house were rejected. “The existing building is not incapable of retention, nor is it unsightly or out of character with the surroundings,” planning officers said in their report.

Trowbridge: Mr Hurley has successfully applied for planning permission to build a single-storey front, side and rear extension onto his home at 22 Middle Lane.

Box: Mr Hall of The Wilderness, Church Lane has won planning permission to carry out works to improve the appearance and functionality of an existing garage.

Malmesbury: Plans submitted for a six bedroom house on land Adjacent To 50 Kings Wall have been refused. David Rogers of 50 Kings Wall wanted to build the house in what is currently his garden and within 50 meters of a listed building. In rejecting the plans, officers said the bulk and scale of the proposed house would be too dominant over the landscape “resulting in harm to the character and appearance of the area”. The plans were also opposed by Malmesbury Town Council.

Corsley: Ms Scoular and Mr Burke have won a bid to replace the roof of their detached garage at Mews Cottage, 2 Knapps Gate. The green light will also see the pair add solar panels to the building.

Chippenham: The green light has been shown to the latest application by German supermarket titans Lidl.

In the latest bid Lidl has been given permission to put up a flagpole, business signage and three lit-up wall mounted billboards at the site. Permission has also been given for smaller wall mounted billboards, a poster display board and a trolley bay sign.

Trowbridge: A house on Fore Street can be converted into a set of two, two-bedroom flats. The proposals submitted by Ismet Kizilboga will see the house at 30 Fore Street become two separate homes.

Marlborough: Plans for a new aluminium-framed and glazed walkway between the gymnasium and sports hall at Marlborough College have been rubber stamped by Wiltshire Council planning officers.

Chippenham: Anthony Wood has successfully applied for planning permission to demolish his uPVC conservatory at Cote House, 24 Rowden Hill. The plans by Mr Wood will see him replace the conservatory with a new brick-built, pitched roof extension to act as a garden lounge for the residents.

Chippenham: Mr Chamberlin of 19 Minster Way has been granted planning permission for a two-storey side extension to his home.
