An exciting project between the Pickwick Association and Corsham Regis Primary Academy has been completed.

The two organisations worked together during the town’s StoryTown festival and pulled together plans for the Pickwick Capers event, inspired by the Dickens novel.

Children at Corsham Regis Primary were so inspired by the performance that they put their own pens to paper and wrote stories inspired by the Pickwick Capers.

Now a book entitled Pickwick Winter Tales has now been created.
Abby Symons, headteacher of Corsham Regis Primary said: “What a wonderful winter world the Year 5s had, as they were introduced to the Pickwick Caperers, who took them through their winter tales from foxes to childhood memories.

“It was a fantastic fusion of the traditional and modern as they produced stories, transmitting them to the classroom via Zoom. The children sat listening, taking notes and developing ideas from sparks of inspiration - their imaginations set alive by the members of the Pickwick Capers.”

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

Joanna Nissel, engagement manager at Paper Nations, which worked with the StoryTown festival, said: “It was so lovely to read the book. I really enjoyed the use of the images against the text, seeing the prompts taken in different ways by the writers, and a little more context to how the book was developed.

"The Pickwick community invites you to step into the snow crisp landscape.

"Walk with them through the wealth of memories and histories that cover every inch of this Wiltshire settlement. Pickwick Winter Tales is a wonderful community writing project and I am delighted to see the lovely stories that have emerged from the StoryTown festival.”
