THERE’S colder weather in store for many as Storm Christoph pulls away from the UK and rainfall starts to ease, although river levels in parts of the UK could continue to rise for a little time to come.

Today will be a chilly but bright day with periods of sunshine. However, there will be the risk of one or two showers spreading from the west later in the afternoon. Moderate westerly winds.

This evening will see one or two showers in places, these locally sharp with some hail or sleet mixed in. Overnight, it will become drier from the west with clear spells. A risk of fog later.

Tomorrow will be a cold with any early fog or low cloud breaking to leave bright spells. One or two sleety showers are possible but most places should be dry. Dry and cold tomorrow evening.

Sunday will see areas of rain and snow pushing in during the morning, with accumulations of snow possible down to low levels.

Monday will have patchy cloud and bright spells with the odd isolated wintry shower, but otherwise remaining dry.

Tuesday will be an overcast day with areas of rain, sleet and snow approaching into the afternoon.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Paul Gundersen, said: “Colder air is now established across the UK as Storm Christoph moves away into the North Sea, and gale force winds will impact the northeast of the country.”
