Wiltshire’s community spirit is praised as residents are asked to continue to protect each other during the latest lockdown.
In a video address to Wiltshire residents, leader of the council, Philip Whitehead said that while cases in Wiltshire are low compared to national figures, people must continue to follow the guidance.
Cllr Whitehead said: “This includes only making essential journeys, limiting contact with others and following the social distancing guidelines makes a big difference.
“We know this will be a difficult time for some of our residents but we are here for you and will help as much as we can.
“Wiltshire’s community spirit has shot up throughout this pandemic and I have no doubt that while vaccines are rolled out we will keep doing our bit to help protect each other.”
The new COVID-19 variant is spreading fast & positive cases are rising rapidly in #Wiltshire.

The council boss added that if residents are vulnerable and need support that the Wiltshire Wellbeing Hub is on hand to provide support.
Cllr Whitehead thanked schools for their work and reminded residents that schools remain open for the children of key workers and those classed as vulnerable.
For those without access to a laptop or digital device, the council has allocated £1.1m to buy around 2,500 devices.
Cllr Whitehead closed off his video address by encouraging to sign up to the council’s business newsletter, in the light of more government funding for businesses to be announced soon.
