KNITTERS and crocheters who yarn-bombed a former village telephone kiosk have raised £250 for the Trowbridge Museum refurbishment.
Seven members of the Great Hinton Art & Craft group decided to bring a bit of early Christmas cheer to villagers at the end of the summer.
They knitted and crocheted away during the Covid lockdown from August to December to yarn-bomb the Great Hinton telephone kiosk, now a well-used library.
Member Carol Clarke said: “We knitted and crocheted for three months.
“The covering comprises at least 18 children’s scarves so that, when the kiosk’s woolly jumper is dismantled, these will be laundered and given to a children’s charity.
“Villagers were invited to give donations of appreciation and £250 will be given to Trowbridge Museum’s refurbishment fund, the village Ladies Club’s chosen charity of the year.”
The group usually meets every Friday from 10am-12 noon in the Village Hall. During lockdown, they met in a garden and a conservatory and then worked from home.
