MARKET Lavington Community Minded Person of the Year awards have recently been allocated. These awards are given to people living in Market Lavington who have received the most votes from residents of the village.

The Young Community Minded Person of the Year Award (sponsored by St Arbuck’s Community Café) has been won by Rose Kent in recognition of the joy she has brought to elderly residents in a local care home, with her regular visits before COVID arrived and maintaining contact with one resident in writing since March.

The second award which is sponsored by the Parish Council is the Community Minded Person of the Year Award. This has been won jointly by Nicky Wragg and her late husband Steve, in recognition and appreciation of all they have done over the years for individuals, groups and charities in the village.

Nicky and Steve have been core members of the Market Lavington Community since they took over the running of The Green Dragon pub over 18 years ago. Popular events organised by them during this period have included the annual Beer and Carols Night, to which Trinity Church invited villagers to The Green Dragon for an evening of Community Christmas Singing; Battle of the Bands in which local bands were able to perform for friends, families and other villagers, and finally the regular charity fundraising quiz nights. Sincere congratulations to these worthy community-minded winners.
