A Wiltshire writer is looking for help with strange place names.
Rosalind Amber says she has been spotting strange names for streets, or places for years and wants to know their history.
"Chopping Knife Lane in Marlborough apparently came from people cutting hazel sticks for use in thatching," she said.
"I have drawn a complete blank on Snappersnipes in Westbury, having tried the Town Council and a local history society, so if anyone could cast light on that I would be very grateful. Other unusual names gratefully received, too." Contact: admin@cprewiltshire.org.uk.
