Chippenham's own KFC drive-thru will be open to customers by March.

This weekend the fast food company apologised for any inconvenience caused by their new development, at Bath Road.

Planners say they are "working hard" to bring the outlet to Chippenham residents by March.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

In planning documents previously submitted to Wiltshire Council, it was promised the drive-thru would "provide new employment opportunities and to support the local economy both directly and indirectly" and be based in a location "which is readily accessible via means other than the private car."

Documents show that around 50 car parking spaces will be created including four disabled parking spaces, three designated drive-thru large order waiting spaces and 10 covered cycle stands.

The new KFC will generate nearly 60 new jobs, documents add.

It was revealed in 2019 that KFC were scouting out new Wiltshire locations, which included Chippenham and Melksham.

A spokesman for the company said there were "bold ambitions to have more than 1,000 stores in the UK and Ireland by 2020," an aim negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
