A new restaurant will soon be appearing in the town centre of Devizes after the surprise closure of Pizza Express.
The company has confirmed that, while not included in their announced closure of 73 sites in September, their Devizes branch will close its doors.
Bosses have suggested people travel to Bath or Marlborough for their pizza fix even if “they’re a bit further away.”
A spokesman from Pizza Express said: “Whilst our Devizes pizzeria wasn’t included in our Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVA) which was approved in early September, the landlord has subsequently served us notice, which has sadly resulted in the closure of the restaurant.
“We’re doing everything we can to support our teams, and Our customers are very welcome to join us at our other nearby restaurants in Marlborough or Bath, though we appreciate they’re a bit further away.”
Taking over the site is the Loungers group, which own properties across the region including the Rivo Lounge in Chippenham and the Valeroso Lounge in Trowbridge.
Tom Trenchard, property director at the company, confirmed the news today.
He said: “We will open in the Spring.
"We are delighted to be bringing our amazing all day offer to Devizes. The Lounge will be called Condado Lounge. “
