Despite the restrictions in place this year, schools have been making sure that the children still had the opportunity to explore the true meaning of Christmas. Working within their bubbles, and after some creative thinking from everyone involved, this year’s Nativity performances were born.

The First Christmas, the nativity at Chirton CofE Primary near Devizes, saw the school's youngest children embark on a fully immersive learning journey. They met real-life sheep, a donkey and used their creative talents to build life-size camels, which all added to the excitement and success of the performance.

"After such a difficult year we felt it was even more important to share something special with the whole community; hopefully it has brought a smile to many people’s faces," said headteacher Bekker Wrench.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils at Sutton Benger School near Chippenham enjoyed recording their nativity, A King is Born, for online broadcast to parents, carers and friends.

At Great Bedwyn Primary School near Marlborough they filmed the Nativity and delivered it virtually: each day a new clip was available to watch and showed off the children's singing, acting and dancing skills.
