A 14-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after a serious crash in Lavington Lane.
Emergency services were called to the scene, near to Lavington School, at 2.18pm today (December 4)
Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed in a field near to the school.
A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a teenager and a van on Lavington Lane around 2.20pm.
"The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene and will remain closed while road collision investigators attend the scene.
"A 14-year-old boy has been airlifted hospital with potentially life-threatening head injuries.
"A 50-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving offences. He remains in custody at this time."
Police have blocked the road by Lavington School to West Lavington crossroads and directed traffic away from the scene.
Lavington School also issued a message to parents and guardians to let them know of the incident and the road closure.
Their message specified that the accident did not involve staff or students.
A spokesman from the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: “We were called at 2.18pm about a reported collision on Lavington Lane, Market Lavington.
“We treated a male teenager at the scene, and he was conveyed to hospital by air ambulance with a serious head injury.”
The teenager has reportedly been taken to the Regional Major Trauma Centre in Bristol.
