Efforts to fix the 'Button Benger' sign on the M4 are in hand.

The spelling mistake which was spotted on the M4 by Junction 17 has raised a few eyebrows with Sutton Benger residents.

Abi Aspin said: "New signage went up over the weekend and our village seems to have been renamed Button Benger!"

Wiltshire Council said the sign was put up as part of the St Modwen Park and the error was raised with the developer last week.

Cabinet member for Highways, Bridget Wayman, said: "The sign with the incorrect spelling has been erected as part of the St Modwen Park development.

"As such all of the works are funded by the developer, including the supply and erection of this sign.

"The Wiltshire Council officer responsible for overseeing construction brought this to the attention of the developer's agent late last week, remedial action is in hand and the sign will be corrected shortly.”
