Chippenham based charity Waste Not Want Not has been given a "huge vote of confidence" by the National Lottery Communities Fund. With three years of support now in place, the charity, based in Hungerdown Lane serving North Wiltshire plans to build on its great success achieved since opening its doors in 2002.

Volunteers collect unwanted furniture and household goods to pass on at affordable prices to pensioners and people on low income, while also providing work experience and volunteering opportunities for the local communit.

Reusing household items also means that the charity helps reduce landfill by around 74 metric tonnes per year avoiding unsightly fly tipping too.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ray Dawson said: “With a recent 100% increase in rent and the need to update the collection and delivery vehicle this award has provided us with a lifeline. It has enabled us to purchase a new van, maintain our low prices to keep these within reach of those on low income and plan with certainty for the future.

"The future looks bright but we couldn’t do what we do without the support of a wonderful team of staff, volunteers and trustees."
