A DRIVER escaped unhurt after a crashing a vehicle into the wall of a bridge at Farleigh Hungerford on the Wiltshire and Somerset border.
Fire crews from Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge attended the accident at 1.15pm on Wednesday on the A366 over the River Frome.
Police said that a Suzuki Jimny left the road and went onto the bridge wall, finishing up on its side.
It sparked a major response from the emergency services, including the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Firefighters helped to free one casualty, who was handed into the care of the ambulance service.
The crews stabilised the vehicle and extricated the trapped driver through its rear. The driver is not believed to have suffered any serious injuries.
The road was closed until around 3.30pm to enable the vehicle to be recovered.
Officers from both Avon and Somerset Police and Wiltshire Police supervised the road closure.
